The Good Yarn Club-Charity Group

This info is from Ruth concerning her knitting/crochet and quilting charity group. For more info, please ask Ruth or Jessica.

Here's the scoop on our charity group. Jessica and I belong to a group at American Airlines called The Good Yarn Club. It is made up of employees and friends of employees that knit, crochet or quilt. We work on several small projects during the year, such as hats for chemo patients or a women's shelter, but our two large projects are in the fall/winter. Throughout the year, we make knitted and crocheted scarves for the homeless (sometimes with hats to match if we have enough yarn!) We also make lapghans (lap afghans) which are either knitted, crocheted or quilted. These are given out to nursing homes. The size of the scarves are about 7 or 8 inches wide by 48 inches long. They can be made with any stitch and any yarn. The lapghans are generally 3 feet by 4 feet, smaller in size so they don't get hung up in the wheels on a wheel chair. These also can be done in any color, yarn, stitch, fabric or quilt pattern. The recipients are always very grateful and it makes them smile! If anyone would like to donate yarn, fabric or finished projects, just bring what you have to our meetings. Our group appreciates any and all efforts to help. Thanks,Ruth
