September Meeting

Ok guys, I forgot to take pics of the mug rugs this month....I guess I was just out of touch by missing the previous month.  If anyone will send me pics, I'll be happy to post them later.

Next month, the theme for the mug rug is: no squares or rectangles.  Make an odd shaped Mug Rug to exchange.

This month we had our ususal business meeting. It was a little different this month as we needed to discuss next year, so we had our guests speak first... This is the Mother/Daughter team, Sandra and Annette of  Plumgood Quilting. They have an online quilt store and are long arm quilters too. They teach classes too. Here's a link to their website and here's their info too. I have also added them on the sidebar of the blog for future reference.

They talked about a different way to do binding and they showed  boards with examples.  She also talked about piping.

Here's a quick quilt she made with strips.

Working with piping and ric-rac.

More piping...

Here's a cute pillow she did. She also gave us a pattern for this.

Thank you, ladies for a wonderful program.

Now for some Show and Tell from our members....

Glenda has been a little busy, don't you think?

Some wonderful memory quilts.

She made this cute bag too.

She made this as a raffle quilt but decided to keep it.

This is her wonderful Christmas Package quilt...

Jackie made this and quilted it with the Baptist Fan pattern.

Judy B. made this and is giving it as a gift.

Helen's cute bag.

Dee made this sweet blue quilt.

This is Dee's Civil War quilt. These patterns were from Barbara Brackman's Block of the Week last year.  This is lovely.

Sally's Vegetable Cat quilt...So cute!

Linda W's sweet nursery rhyme quilt. This is a gift for one of her daughter's friends.

Linda W's wonderful Crazy Patch quilt.  She took up tatting to add to this lovely quilt.  She has all different kinds of momentoes on this little quilt.

Bev's sweet Christmas quilt.

Bev made this for her daughter's upcoming wedding. This is her daughter's bridal bouquet.  The picture doesn't do this justice.

This is Martha's Bento Box quilt. She hosted a great exchange for this.  I think she ended up with 35 people from all over the country exchanging blocks for this exchange.  She did this locally and over the internet.  It was a fun exchange.

Martha made this using a panel called Little Genius's

Yes, she's an over achiever!  This is her OhmyGosh Quilt.  So great!

This is Sharon H's little scrappy pineapple quilt.  She got the idea from a book called Trash to Treasure Pineapple...

Last but not least, this is Annalee's beautiful Hanky quilt. She made this for a friend of hers.  This is the friend's Mother's hankies.  I think she will be showing us how she did this later in the year...Beautiful!

We have such talented ladies in our group. I can't wait to see what everyone is working on next month.  Now, get busy and show us what you are working on.  Until next time, happy sewing!

  1. hello from salem, massachusetts. i check your blog quite frequently as i host mugrug swaps on the hgtv site "mandylifeboats" is my board name over there. i enjoy looking at all the quilts your members create. some real talented ladies there. i have used some of your mugrug ideas. this month the theme is going to be "home is where the heart is", whatever way they want to interpret it. last month we did halloween/autumn since not everyone celebrates halloween. for january i am thinking a "monogram" theme, whoever your swap partner is and the initial of their first name. thanks for all the inspiration. if u are on twitter, please follow me. i am "eileensideways".
