It has really been hot, huh? I keep hearing people say, yeah, it's hot but we haven't had days and days of over 100 degrees like last year...Well, that's true, but I still say, it's hot! I'm trying to stay cool any way I can. That means I'm staying inside alot!!! I wish I could say, I'm sewing alot but I cannot. I hope you guys are sewing more than I am...
If you missed the July meeting, you missed a good time! This was a working meeting but we had fun too. We worked on Covers for Kids this month. Let's start off by showing you the wonderful Mug Rugs our ladies are doing. Haven't these been great! I want everyone of them.
Y'all are doing a great job on these!!! This month's theme was food and there were some really cute ones and I took a close up of Sharon's so we can all have her brownie recipe!
Next month, the theme is Log Cabin.
Here's some of the Covers for Kids quilts we made. I heard that we ended up with 8 finished that night and a few people took some more kits home. I also heard that the 2 samples that were missing have been found...
If you haven't seen the Church quilt for this year, here it is. It turned out so pretty. Great job, ladies!
How about some show and tell from our members?!!!!
This one is Rita's Floating Four Patch. It is wonderful. It looks so different from Bev's. Same quilt, same finish but so different. I love both of them. I'm still working on mine. I would like some more blocks. I am making a few at a time and have put together what I have. I think mine is 11 X 11. When we were doing this exchange, I thought I would make this but do it as a small throw. Once I started putting it together, I liked it more and more. Now that I've seen these, I want it to be lots bigger. I think I heard at the meeting that if there is enough interest, another exchange might be done. I know I'm interested, anyone else????
We had an old member come back to see us. Welcome back, Susan. Glad you joined us again...This quilt was recently put together by her. The blocks were made by the members as a thank you to her for being our leader for the year. I think she said this was 10 years ago.
This one is Sharon's. I think she said this was her retreat quilt and she took it to all the retreats and worked on it. It's Kaffe Fassett fabric and looks great.
This is called Texas Braid. It is a Bonnie Hunter pattern and was made by Jackie and her ladies at the library. Jackie quilted it and they are raffling this quilt off to raise money for the Royse City Library. She will bring raffle tickets next month to sell, so bring your money!
Jackie said she's working on UFO's and found these chicken placemats to work on. These are cute. We all know Jackie likes her chickens, hey, where were the eggs this month?????
This is Linda's month by month wall hanging. There are 12 little quilts that snap on to the middle quilt, here are three that she has made. These are so cute.
Ooh, I love this one. My favorite colors!
This one is Nancy's. Love it...A manly disappearing 9 patch quilt.
This one was the Jelly Roll Race Quilt. Can you tell this one was Nancy's too? I love her peeking over the quilt! Ha ha, so cute.
Last, but not least, she decided to be different and do the Omygosh Quilt in black background fabric. Looks good, Nancy. The black will be great!
Ok, just so you know, the block on the right is wrong. The vertical middle 4 patch squares should be going up and down, not sideways. I sent an email out to everyone about this correction.
Ok, get busy ladies and bring in that show and tell for next month. Stay cool and sew!
