June meeting

                                         This month we worked on quilts for kids.  While the instructions were being                         given we were relaxing and getting ready to start working on the projects.

This is a quilt I made and it is the same kit pattern we were given to work on. Several of us brought our machines and we ended up finishing 8 quilt tops and several were taken home to work on....

Now for some show and tell from our members.

Look at this cute fox quilt.

This is a row by row quilt several of us are participating in a swap for this one.  It has two or three more rows to be added.  So cute.

Look at this big beautiful quilt of Glenda's.

Hmmm, I think this was Karen's quilt but I'm not sure.  She's hiding so much I can't tell and don't remember!

Martha showed this one. This is a quilt top that the modern quilt guild have asked people to make to donate to the families and first responders of the Florida people that were killed.

The following is from the email from the Dallas Modern Quilt Guild:

#Quiltsforpulse DMQG is participating in the Orlando MQG’s Charity quilt drive to help the victims and families of the Orlando nightclub shootings. We are asking all members that want to participate to make the 10 1/2 inch Rainbow blocks with low volume background colors. Urban Spools has offered to be our official block drop off location (also drop off at guild meeting). For every 3 or more heart blocks dropped off you will receive one FQ. November meeting

 

Our speaker this month was from the Vogel Alcove. She was very informative.  The Vogel Alcove helps homeless children and families and each child receives a quilt.  Diane made this one and gave to her,

 

 

Also, laying on the table are star blocks for the church quilt...great job, ladies.

 

 

 

 

I did not make this one but I finished it and gave to her.

This one is for Cathy D's  grandchild.  The French Rose pattern...love it.

 

 

Cathy B did this one and it is a Sue Spargo pattern....

 

I did this one. It was a kit made up by the guild and it is for the quilts for kids charity. I'm not sure what charity will get it but I hope a child will like it...

July meeting

Our July meeting was held at Thomas Sewing Center.  We showed our quilts and talked about new products and some favorite tools and got to shop too.  Can't ask for more than that, except food. Oh yeah, we had that too.  Our members provided snacks but so did Mrs. Thomas, thanks so much guys. It was all good!

 

We started off the meeting showing more of the legacy quilts....This one belonged to one of Jackie's Aunts.  Jackies's cousin found this in her Mom's sewing stuff and gave it to Jackie.  Jackie plans to finish it somehow, she's not sure what she's going to do yet but she does plan on returning it to her cousin once it is finished. 

 

Here's one of Nancy's. Isn't this beautiful and it's in great condition too. I love the border on this one.
