Our January Meeting

Last night, we met at the church for our first meeting of this year...I'm amazed this month has gone so fast!  It was good to see our members and our three guests.  It's nice to have new people come and visit with us and I hope they come back again...

I'm really missing the Mug Rugs!  It was sad not to have those little quiltlets up to look at.  We've had so many months with blocks and other things to look at on the walls that it was strange not to see anything at all last night! Oh well, I know we will have some great things this year going on!

It was so nice to have the hot tea and refreshments last night.  It was like our own little tea party...

Our program last night was very good. I enjoyed seeing all the embroidered items, pillows, red work quilts, blue work quilts, samplers, doilies, etc.  Thank you to Joyce, Judy B and Martha for such a nice program...
Here's a few things they showed us.  I didn't take pics of everything but hope you enjoy seeing the ones I did take.

Ok, how about some show and tell from our members:

Jessica started us off with her crocheted scarf...If you want to donate yarn to her and her Mom, please bring whatever you have. They use it to make hats and scarves for those in need...I think she said her group made 500 scarves last year...that's great!

Too cute!!!

Here's the start of  Daphne's Bento Box quilt

Some stars she is working on

Here's the fabric she's been using to fussy cut from!

Isn't this great?  This is Linda B.'s scrappy star quilt.  She was in  a group with three others and she won the blocks.  Now, they are making more stars and will have three more wins so everyone will have a quilt...Great use of scraps!

Here's Sharon's Row by Row all quilted up. This was such a fun quilt to do.

Susan is making cupcake blocks for her granddaughters and needs 6" pink squares of fabric...

Here's the quilt I quilted for a friend going through chemo.  The blocks were made by non-quilters..  I think they did a super job.

Here's the tablerunner I finished last week...

Jackie finished this little quilt over the Christmas holidays.  She won these blocks several years ago. This is the first time she has quilted with metallic thread.  Great job, Jackie!

Glenda made this quilt for a friend of hers.  She used the husband's shirts to make it...He had some shirts with his intitials on them and  there are pockets in the quilt too.  Lovely job, Glenda. I know she will cherish this quilt...

Glenda also made this. Well, she didn't make the dresser, she just decorated it!  She used selvedges on the top and sides of the chest and the drawers are covered with some of her favorite fabrics.  So cute!  What a great idea!

Top view, she said she will put a glass on the top to protect it.

Martha participated in a 3-D challenge.

Here's another challenged she did. This one is the Dallas Modern Quilt Guild.  They were given the fabric and had to make a quilt with it.  She made a Bento Box quilt...

Here's the last challenge for this group.  She used the left over fabric from the last challenge to create a block.

Next month, we will be having a Make and Take program for February. Martha passed out a little flyer at the meeting of things to bring to work on. She has some of the supplies, just bring what was on the flyer to participate.  She will send out an email to everyone so if you weren't at the meeting, you will know what to bring.

Glenda advised that we need to start making heart pillows again for community service.  She will look for the pattern and we will be working on these in March.  More info will be forthcoming.  Ok, ladies, get busy and come back next month and show us what you have been working on!

Til next time, happy quilting!
